This training opportunity is organized through COPPUL (Council of Prairie and Pacific University Libraries) and Statistics Canada’s Data Liberation Initiative (DLI), which provides access to Statistics Canada resources exclusively to member academic libraries. AU Library is a member of both of these organizations. The training provided would enhance my ability to serve students access material from statistics Canada relevant to several disciplines taught at AU. I would participate in all the training sessions provided during this workshop. Enhancing my reference skills in data services is a good compliment to the various reference skills I current possess. The training is very focused on the uniqueness of data librarianship. It is an invaluable opportunity to keep current in this constantly changing facet of library reference services. My position as a librarian at AU Library includes serving students and faculty in their research pursuits across various disciplines. This specialized training is applicable across several academic disciplines thus highly relevant.
