Three day conference with guest speakers and presenters touching on new media and ways to reach out to prospective students, as well, how to deal with the everyday stress of managing online communication. Discussions varied from: The Publicaitons Hurly Burly, The Heart of the Story, Risks and Rewards, Make Readers Love Your Magazine, Meaningful online experiences, WorkingThrough a ReDesign, The Web is Shrinking and how best to work with Illustrators plus Sustainable Living and defining the issues of our time. I found the sessions to be rewarding and insightful, will definitely apply the knowledge with upcoming publications that need to be worked on with AU.en
The word "publications" is rapidly being redefined. What once meant putting ink on paper and distributing copies through the mail has come to describe the dissemination of information and ideas in many forms, through many channels. Yet although publications professionals have adopted new media, they have also found that doing their best work still requires timeless qualities: clear conceptual thinking, good writing and editing, bold images and strong design. This conference is for the contemporary "publications" person who understands the audience, holds to the highest standards and seeks professional growth and change.en
