The papers were well received at the conference. The Mobile Virtual Campus system was commented as an innovative and effective mobile learning system in the online /distance learning environment. Presented the MVC system in related with Athabasca University’s education model and other open university scenarios, the system concept, algorithm, and design were considered innovative and useful, especially the location-based grouping concept. It has attracted a lot of attentions for those practice and research on online and distance learning. Future work will focus on developing professional application systems in the major mobile platforms, such as iPhone, Andriod, and Java enable phones guided by the pedagogy for online mobile learning. Using the MVC system in real education environment to further evaluate and improve the system from educational perspective. By presenting the paper at the conference, we made the connections among the researchers and scholars on mobile learning and mobile computing. Multi-Object Oriented Augmented Reality for Location-based Adaptive Mobile Learning created lot of interests on apply AR to create the innovative and interactive interface in location-based mobile learning environment at the conference. It generated interesting discussions on AR in educational applications and it was recognized as the issue having lot of potential in research and application development. By presenting the paper at the conference, we made the connections among the researchers on AR for education.en
dc.description.abstract1) A Collaborative Mobile Virtual Campus System Based on Location-Based Dynamic Grouping This paper presents a collaborative mobile learning system: Mobile Virtual Campus (MVC) powered by the location-based dynamic grouping algorithm. The MVC system has been developed to provide an innovative and interactive platform for online mobile learners by utilizing the location awareness and other built-in sensory components in mobile devices. On the platform, the mobile learners can learn collaboratively and interactively either at a distance or face-to-face in the mobile learning environment. Within the MVC, the mobile learners can share the learning experiences with their peers just like in a traditional classroom. 2) Multi-Object Oriented Augmented Reality for Location-based Adaptive Mobile Learning Mobile learning can be conducted anytime and anywhere. It provides the opportunity for mobile learners to learn collaboratively while they are online and in the mobile learning environment. Utilizing a mobile device’s location awareness capability within mobile learning applications has become available. Although the GPS may not be accurate enough because in the location-based mobile learning environment, there might be a lot of learning objects in a single location, and each object has its specific learning contents belong. This research aims to bring up a strategy called Multi-Object Oriented Augmented Reality, based on the Augmented Reality technique and the location of Mobile Learning Objects, which allows learner to see the suitable learning contents superimposed upon the specific learning objects and enhance the interactive in a mobile learning environment. The three characteristics of this new approach; Learning-Object Oriented, Guidance ability and highly interactive will enhance the learners’ knowledge as more adaptable, accurate, personalized and interesting as possible.en
