dc.description.abstractAs course developers gain experience and as the number of online courses grows, the importance and necessity of metadata standards becomes more apparent. The cost of developing interactive multimedia lessons is prohibitive. Institutions cannot afford to develop everything by themselves. Sharing is essential. Learning objects and metadata are essential for facilitating these exchanges. Course developers need to start thinking in terms of learning objects and metadata.en
