Libraries Providing Learner Support: The Collaboration Connection
Abstract
Collaboration is an essential component in providing learner support in the distance learning environment. It can be found in many different guises in academe, and may involve faculty, staff and librarians. This paper provides a brief review of the literature on collaborative efforts in the academic environment, identifies opportunities for collaboration between librarians, faculty and staff and provides examples of collaborative projects that Athabasca University (AU) Library has been involved in. Strategies for collaboration that are transferable across institutions will also be provided.
