How are students using social media to support educational learning? Online educational initiatives tend to focus on formal dimensions of education, yet most learning occurs outside learning management systems. The social media hype has created a lot of buzz among educators, but so far research on how such media are used to support learning in in its infancy. Dr. Stefan Hrastinski, Assistant Professor, KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Stockholm, Sweden) will provide a creative and collaborative presentation on the role of social media in the future of education. The discussion will be based on initial results from a study of how students use social media to support educational learning.en
