The Social Economy in BC and Alberta: Strengthening the Foundations for Growth

Abstract

The BC-Alberta Social Economy Research Alliance (BALTA) is a coalition of community based and academic institutions formed to conduct research on the social economy and community economic development in Alberta and British Columbia, Canada. This document is the funding proposal from the Canadian Centre for Community Renewal, the lead agency of BALTA, to the main funder, the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC). It provides a rationale and overview of initial plans for BALTA's five year research program.
