Dr. Sherri Melrose

Sherri Melrose is an Assistant Professor in the Centre for Nursing and Health Studies and has been teaching at Athabasca University since 2001. Professionally, Dr. Melrose’s background is in both psychiatric mental health and education. She taught for many years with a traditional nursing program at the Foothills Hospital School of Nursing in Calgary .

In her doctoral studies, Dr. Melrose explored the process of constructing personal meaning during learning. Her most recent research interests have been qualitative and framed from a constructivist perspective. Methodologies included applying George Kelly’s personal construct psychology and Jan Morse’s qualitative outcome analysis.

Recent research projects with have included exploring graduate students’ help seeking behaviors, instructional responses demonstrating immediacy and transitional experiences of Licensed Practical Nurses enrolled in an online Post LPN to BN program.

Dr. Melrose has been involved with authoring and or facilitating the following courses: MHST 601, 604, 611, 623 and NURS 328, 435.
