Introduction
Until 2007 I was a Professor of Biology in the Centre for Science at Athabasca University. I joined Athabasca University in Edmonton in 1974 and moved, with its headquarters, to Athabasca in 1984 where I stayed until retiring.

My teaching work was in introductory biology, ecology, animal behaviour and science projects. On occasion, I administered various other biology courses. My research interests are in the ecology and behaviour or arthropods, especially arachnids, as well as science education. My service work was primarily in committee work, school and public talks, and administration. Details are provided below.

My personal web page can be found at this link http://www.athabascau.ca/html/staff/academic/holmberg.htm

I worked with people from the University of Alberta and the University of Lethbridge to establish the Digital Teaching Resource Library for Biology (Bio-DiTRL). This is a data-base of images (drawings, photographs, posters, video-clips and animations) accompanied with general descriptions, key words, and taxonomic information. The images can be used without charge for teaching purposes. Use this link http:// bio-ditrl.sunsite.ualberta.ca and, in the search function, type in “Holmberg” or “Athabasca University” in the author box to see contributions from Athabasca University.

In 2000, I and several others established Science Outreach – Athabasca. The group’s main objectives are to 1) promote science in the greater Athabasca area and 2) prepare a science bibliography of work done in the Athabasca River Basin. The link is here http://scienceoutreach.ab.ca.
